Earlston Parish Church has occupied a prominent place in the village for many generations, probably at least as far back as the twelfth century. Today its fine Victorian architecture dominates the East End of Earlston, and its comfortable interior welcomes a great diversity of worshipers. Please come and join us, and enjoy your welcome afterwards with a cup of tea or coffee – you’ll find it hard to get away.

Morning worship is normally offered every Sunday at 10:15 (except on special occasions), with Holy Communion at various times of the year.  There are also occasional weekday services.

The Gospel proclaims that it is the responsibility of everyone within the Church to prevent harm, be it physical, sexual or emotional, and we will always seek to reduce risk.

The Church's commitment to safeguarding remind us that God cares passionately about the welfare and well-being of all people.

Tribute to the late Rev. Marion Dodd

We are deeply saddened by the death of Rev. Marion Dodd. Marion touched the lives of a huge number of people from all walks of life with her talents as a musician and a minister of the gospel. A daughter of the manse, her early career was spent as a Russian Translator for the Foreign Office before she undertook training for the ministry of The Church of Scotland.

When she retired as minister from Kelso Old and Sprouston in 2010 she became our locum minister for 6 months until our vacancy was filled. She has been our Interim Moderator for the past 5 years. Her ability to recognise and use the talents and gifts possessed by people in the congregation gave us the opportunity and confidence to overcome many of the difficulties we and the national church face  in our present vacancy.

Her illness came as a great shock to many, but she bore it with fortitude and showed confidence to her many visitors of the better place she was destined to be in the presence of our Lord. The love and esteem in which she was held was evidenced by the constant stream of visitors often crowded in to her room at any time. In an earlier age matron would probably have had a fit!!

Marion was very grounded, and her sense of humour and very evident concern for the well-being of others will be our lasting memory of her as a faithful servant to her calling. We thank God for the privilege of having been part of Marion's life, and she having been part of ours.

On Sunday 15th September at 10.15am there will be a service in the church. Refreshments will be served after the service. All Ages are welcome, we have a corner for the younger children to play in. Prayer Support will be held in the church later that day at 6.30pm, all welcome.

On Sunday 22nd September the service at 10.15am will be led by Mr Tom Burnham. Refreshments will be served after the service. 

COMMUNITY CAFE AND LARDER FOODSHARE- Earlston Community Cafe and Larder Foodshare  is open Wednesday mornings from 10.30am to 12 noon, in the church hall.  Come along for a cup of tea or coffee, with biscuits, and a friendly chat. No charge, but donations are welcome. We have a toddler play area in the main hall, and parents or carers with little ones can make use of the quiet lounge.  Free food is available from the Earlston Community Development Trust Larder Foodshare. This is good food that would otherwise go to waste, and is for anyone to collect. Donations of food are also accepted. For more information contact Gill Yellowlees on 07747757214.

BBC Radio 4, live on Sundays at 8.10 am

We do not currently hold a regular Sunday School; children are always welcome to any service, there is a good selection of resources available in the dedicated area at the front of the sanctuary. Special provision has been made for wheelchairs in the body of the church.  

Above all, there are few aspects of village life in which Earlston Parish Church doesn’t play a prominent part. The Church Newsletter is distributed three times a year to every household in the parish. The annual service to celebrate the commencement of Civic Week has even taken place in the festive marquee in previous years.
